Longlisted for Ireland's Greenest Village by the Irish Times in 2025, our work at Greener Quin focusses on two main areas:

Circular Living in Quin

Are you participating in the Circular economy without realising it? Small every day actions add up to big impacts when we all take part in the circular economy. Reducing single use items, borrowing, swapping, fixing, mending, reusing, upcycling, buying and wearing preloved. Tell us what circular activity you participated in today!

Furniture Upcycling Workshop

Quin Village Tidy Towns hosted its first Upcycling Workshop with the Revamp Tramp at Quin Community Centre in in March 2024. The event brought together local residents to upcycle small items of furniture that might otherwise have been thrown away…

Raised Beds in Quin's Housing Estates

In spring 2025, Quin Village Tidy Towns installed raised beds in three housing estates across the village as a pilot Grow Your Own programme.

Swaps, Preloved Events and Circular Living in Quin

Over the past two years, Quin Village Tidy Towns has run a series of swap and preloved events as part of its circular economy work — each one designed to keep useful items in circulation, reduce household waste, and make sustainable choices accessible to people in the village.

Bumblebee Monitoring at Quin Abbey

In March 2026, Quin Village Tidy Towns established a formal bumblebee monitoring transect at Quin Abbey as part of the All-Ireland Bumblebee Monitoring Scheme.

About Greener Quin

We're a small team of volunteers who work with local schools, residents, businesses and organisations to make practical change — from wildflower meadows to clothing swaps, from bumblebee monitoring to grow-your-own beds. In 2023 we became a Sustainable Energy Community. In 2024 we commissioned a Biodiversity Action Plan for the village. In 2025 we were recognised as one of Ireland's Greenest Villages by the Irish Times. In 2026 we welcomed Minister Christopher O’Sullivan to Quin to launch our Biodiversity Action Plan.
